Hi, I’m Adam, a photographer based in Lincoln, UK.

I’ve been a professional photographer for more than 20 years, photographing everything from weddings, families, babies & pets.
I now specialise in commercial photography and marketing services as Through the Lens Photography.

The requirement to supply the very best commercial images is what has constantly driven my technical excellence in digital photography and editing.

This website is all about my passion for exploring with my camera, making images and telling stories of the landscapes, cityscapes and people, near and far, I discover. I also love to share my knowledge and passion for photography through teaching. I have a teaching qualification, and sharing my knowledge and experience, helping people take better photos and discovering their own love of photography, is very important to me. Check out my tuition page.

You’ll also spot my passion for cycling and cycle races. Myself and my wife are road cyclists and huge fans of cycle racing, so much so that I have sponsored and supported, top UK women’s cycling team finishlineracing.

Most weekends, when not traveling further afield, we’ll be out on two wheels somewhere, and probably chasing a bike race at the same time!

I’m convinced my photography stems from my vision, I’ve often felt that I see things differently, I spot details and am always exploring alternative angles. In 2023 I was diagnosed with ADHD and whilst I’m trying to work out what this means for me, I’m sure it has influenced my photography. I aim to explore this link further and want to advocate for a greater understanding of ADHD in the future.

With an ever deepening bucket-list of places to visit you’ll see many of my blog posts are written on subject of travel photography, and sharing my travels. In an Instagram world of over-tourism and endless image sharing I strive to maintain my standards, develop my photography and share my knowledge.

I’ve had a camera in my hand since I was a kid, shooting film and even learning to develop film and print enlargements at home before discovering the convenience and speed of digital. I’m always learning, developing my expertise in image making, camera operation and image processing with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.

In recent years, driven by a desire to slow down my image making and escape from the near instant demands of digital photography, at least temporarily, I’ve returned to film (analogue) photography and am rediscovering and developing my analogue skills and experience.
